Though “Asia” today is the most difficult word to be defined, as its “image” is always changing just like chameleon, Asia is now the engine of the world economy. Our role in research industries and communities in the Asia Pacific is to find the truth about Asia and to seek and share a new definition of Asia. Beyond the old thoughts and concepts established in the 20th century mainly by the West, it is time for researchers in the Asia Pacific to take the initiatives and to challenge to the new frontiers and open the NEXT stage of research in the Asia Pacific.
